What are some of the requirements for becoming a worship team member?
- A heart of worship that is expressed in all areas of your life
- Musical ability
- Established relationships of trust and accountability within the church
- A commitment to the overall values and priorities of the Vineyard. This commitment is expressed through involvement in serving the church in various capacities as well as involvement in a small group
- Calling and anointing from God to ministry in music (This is something that the various worship ministry leaders will help to discern.) Many people are gifted musically; a smaller number of people are actually called by God to minister with music to the church.
- Involvement in a small group
- Regular attendee and giver
- Completion of Beginnings Class and Worship 101 evening
Other Considerations
- The personal preferences of the worship leader in choosing team members
- Whether or not there are currently any openings on any of the teams
- The timing of God’s call for each individual
We want to honor God in everything we do here at SMVC, and do it with excellence. To that end, we've developed a process to become a worship team member.
First, we ask that you come to our Worship 101 class. It is an informal evening, usually held at the church where we go over what worship in the Vineyard is all about, how you can get connected, and what our values and priorities are in the Vineyard. This gives us a chance to get to know you, and you get to check us out and ask any questions you might have.
Next, we require all potential worship team members to go through our Beginnings class. This 3-week course provides a history of SMVC, the Vineyard story, and an overview of our beliefs and values. Being a part of the Worship Team is one of the many ways we can both serve and worship our God.
